"Towards a European e-infrastructure for e-science digital respositories"
The European Commission's Information Society and Media Commission has published a call for tenders for the move towards a European e-infrastructure for e-science digital repositories.
The contract is to provide a reliable overview of European digital repositories of e-science information, data and knowledge.
To achieve that, the contractor will interface relevant scientific communities in different Member States and analyse their approach to developing digital repositories of experimental data sets, journals, theses and associated information. An important aspect of the study will be to collect information and analyse the degree of interoperability of the different approaches and technologies. The contractor will also study possible scenarios to build upon common requirements and synergies so that a layer of digital repositories can develop as part of the European research e-infrastructure.

"Recommendations on exploiting research infrastructure potential in the information society"
The European Commission's Information Society and Media DG has published a call for tenders for recommendations on exploiting research infrastructure potential in key areas of the information society (e-government, e-health, e-learning).
The aim of the study will be to explore and assess whether and how the needs for e-infrastructure in the government, health and training and education sectors can be met in a coordinated way. The contractor will also investigate possible options to exploit it. The contractor should especially take into account the experience and the lessons learned from the deployment of e-infrastructure in the research sector for deployment in other sectors.
