Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Peter Liggesmeyer studied Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Data Technology at the University of Paderborn. He obtained his doctorate with honors from Ruhr University Bochum in 1992, where he also completed his habilitation thesis in 1999. Since 2004, he has been holding a chair in Software Engineering: Dependability in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Kaiserslautern and has been director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE). Prof. Liggesmeyer is founder and speaker of the Fraunhofer Alliance Embedded Systems, whose current members belong to 13 different Fraunhofer Institutes.
Fraunhofer IESE is one of the worldwide leading research institutes in the area of software and systems engineering. Their projects provide good doctorate subjects. Graduates of computer science or related fields can qualify for a responsible postiion in industry in an application-oriented working environment.
Fraunhofer IESE is looking for excellent scientists to do applied research in
- embedded systems engineering
- process management
- information systems engineering
at all levels of qualification: students, scientists and post-docs.
Since 2010, the ISGS offers informal dialogs in relation to its Career Services for international and German (Post)Graduates. These up-close and personal meetings at the university offer the chance of getting in touch with executives from different disciplines and learning about "their way" of starting and leading a career as well as reflecting on it.
In general, ISGS networking dialogs want to give hints on the following aspects:
- Competencies and character traits of an executive
- Main professional tasks of an executive in science, industry or politics
- Decision-taking and its background
- Introduction of different career paths
- Surviving as an executive on the globalized market
Apart from this, these dialogs simply offer the chance of meeting executives personally, learning about their opinions and how to present oneself and one's career paths or even one's personality to successful leaders in science and technology!
